About Election Compass 2026
Election Compass 2026 is a free, independent tool designed to help you understand which parties best represent your views, based on your answers to a position quiz across a range of core topics.
How is the match calculated?
For every question you answer, we compare your position to each party's position, on a scale from -2 (strongly against) to +2 (strongly in favor). The final match percentage is an average of two complementary scores, each capturing a different aspect of "match":
The distance score checks how close the actual positions are, number against number: DistanceScore = (1 − Σ(wᵢ × |Uᵢ − Pᵢ|) / Σ(wᵢ × 4)) × 100, where U is your position, P is the party's position, and w is the question's weight.
The direction score checks something else: whether the overall direction of your positions matches the party's direction across all the questions together, even if the intensity differs (for example: you're "in favor" and the party is "strongly in favor" on the exact same issue). Without this score, a party that consistently takes moderate positions would gain an unfair advantage from the distance score alone, even against someone who clearly matches ideologically with another party that takes more decisive positions.
Parties are ranked from the highest to the lowest match. A question's weight (w) has two components: in the comprehensive track you can mark which topics matter more to you, which produces a higher weight for questions in that category. In addition, every question has a built-in "polarization weight," derived from how much parties actually disagree on it: a question where parties are spread across the whole scale (a genuinely contested issue) affects the result more than a question where almost all parties agree, so the match mainly reflects what actually distinguishes the parties.

The entire calculation happens in your browser alone, and the moment you close the page, the answers are deleted.

Election Compass 2026 was built as a volunteer effort by two independent entrepreneurs, out of a belief in a free, transparent, and independent tool for the Israeli voter.
